3 Tips to Accessorizing Outfits

Choosing wrong accessories can ruin an otherwise great outfit. Fortunately, we’ll share some tips to make an ordinary outfit look great with the right accessories.

Below are 3 tips for accessorizing outfits:

Avoid Being Too Matchy
It might be tempting to play off the blue polka dots in your dress with matching blue earrings, a blue necklace and blue shoes. However, matching to this extent can sometimes look a little old-fashioned or childish. Throwing some unexpected, yet surprisingly perfect accessories into the mix shows off your creativity and adds interest to the outfit.

  • Use the color wheel to help you come up with interesting color combinations that accent each other beautifully. For example, if you're wearing a purple shirt, try adding something mustard or lemon-colored to your outfit instead of hunting down the same shade of purple. Since yellow is opposite purple on the color wheel, your outfit will be appealing to the eye.
  • Wear colors with black and white. If you're wearing a black and white flowered top, then you could pop in an electric blue medium sized beaded necklace and some cute blue earrings.
  • While going overboard with matching is usually ill-advised, it can also be a lot of fun when you do it deliberately. Wearing red pants and a top with red sunglasses and a red scarf could look vintage and chic. Your monochrome look will be sure to turn heads. Source:  wikiHow

Choose Items That Enhance your Features
Another thing is big earrings; I think people really shy away from them because you don’t want to look like you’re dressed up, or maybe they don’t match your outfit because your outfit is casual; again, don’t worry about the rules. If you really like something, wear it; you can pull it off.
In this case, I love earrings with color; these are a pair of green. These are BaubleBar for Erickson Beamon and they’re bright, they’re costume jewelry, they’re under $100 and, if you get them, they will take any outfit and really spice it up. You can wear it during the day or especially at night; I mean you don’t need to spend a lot of money on fancy jewelry or diamonds or gold. Just get something with a lot of color and that’s a lot of fun and that’s going to make you feel happy when you put it on.
If you do a large necklace, you want to keep it simple; you don’t need to pile on the jewelry and you don’t really even have to worry about your outfit.  Source: HowCast

Don't Wear Too Many Accessories at Once
There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and you don't want to resemble a kid playing dress up in mom's closet. Exercise a little bit of restraint with accessories - if you have statement earrings on, don't add bangles, a cocktail ring, and a scarf. Keep it to one or two main pieces.
Try layering your bracelets. Stacked bangles are a hot trend this winter. Wear a bunch on one arm to easily add sparkle to an outfit. You can buy a pack of bangles for $4 at Charlotte Russe, so it's definitely a budget-friendly look! Source: CollegeFashion.net
