6 Podcasts for Health, Happiness and Self Improvement Junkies
1.) Happier with Gretchen Rubin
Ok, this is probably my favorite podcast in the podcast-iverse. The show, as the name suggests, is all about making your life a little happier. The thing I love about Happier, is how relatable and accessible it is. Gretchen hosts the show with her sister Elizabeth. They don’t proclaim to be experts in all things, but simply give realistic suggestions, tips and stories that help you make each day a little bit happier. Gretchen and Elizabeth are totally different in personality but get along so well, which is really fun to listen to. Another amazing part of this show is the community of listeners. A lot of great stories and suggestions actually come from their huge listener base. It really feels like this fun, happy book-club-esque crew that comes together once a week in the name of happiness.
Show Format:
- The show is co-hosted by the two sisters and broken up into different sections: try this at home, happiness stumbling blocks, listener questions and gold stars and demerits
This Podcast is Perfect for:
- Honestly, anyone who wants to be happy!
2.) Real Talk Radio with Nicole Antoinette
If Happier is my favorite podcast, Real Talk Radio comes in at a very close second. Nicole hosts a long form interview show that really feels like a conversation with your best friend. She asks really hard, honest questions and the guests do not disappoint with their answers. If you love deep conversations, embracing the beautiful mess that is life, then you will love this show. Also I just totally want to be BFFs with Nicole because she sounds so cool, down to earth and wise.
Show Format:
- Interview based episodes
This Podcast is Perfect for:
- People who love longer shows
- Anyone who loves real talk and deep conversations
- Someone interested in self-help that’s stripped of the cheesiness and outdated cliche advice
3.) The Blissful Bites Podcast
Whether you’re a blogger, online business owner or founder of a food company you will want to devour Nicole’s Blissful Bites Podcast (see what I did there). What I love about this podcast and Nicole Culver in general, is she isn’t afraid to pull back the curtain and show you what the behind the scenes really looks like. She also shares insightful tips from running her own businesses. And it’s not the “get rich quick” online business B.S. that’s every-freaking-where these days. Instead, Nicole shares why you can ditch the generic formulas, and focus on connecting with your audience.
Show format:
- A mix of solo business episodes & interview based episodes
This Podcast is Perfect for:
- Food and healthy living bloggers
- Small business owners, especially those who run their business online
- Entrepreneurs in the food space
4.) That’s So Maven
Ok, first of all, anyone born in the 90’s will absolutely appreciate this Disney Channel reference. Puns aside, Davida’s how is top notch. I’ve always been attracted to Davida’s unique brand of authenticity. She’s always been a trail blazer in the food/healthy living blog space. My favorite content from her has always been her personal essay style posts where she dives into real issues most people are afraid to talk about. This podcast is a celebration of that. Davida never comes off as preachy, rather she illuminates that there really isn’t one way to be healthy. On the show, she brings on a wide variety of wellness experts from bloggers, to authors, to business owners. All of whom have a similar genuine approach to wellness.
Show format:
- Davida’s show is interview based.
This Podcast is Perfect for:
- Women interested in holistic wellness
- Bloggers in the food and healthy living space
- Anyone who’s interested in learning about wellness topics that don’t get talked about enough (like Davida’s episode on reproductive health)
5.) The Lively Show
The Lively Show is a recent addition to my subscription list, but I’ve already binge listened to a ton of her episodes. Jess is an online entrepreneur who, over the past year, has made a huge life change. She sold all her belongings to travel across the globe by herself. Her podcast focuses on living an intentional, purposeful life. She dives deep into developing your intuition, identifying your ego, finding “flow” in your life and getting into alignment. If that all sounds like gibberish, don’t worry she goes into all these topics in detail. She makes a lot of “woo-woo” teachings come to life in a very real world way. As I’ve been my own solo travel journey I’ve loved hearing about Jess’s experience. She’s helped me realize that the spirit of travel is something you can cultivate even when you’re living in one place.
Show format:
- The show is a pretty even mix of interview episodes and solo episodes on specific topics
This Podcast is Perfect for:
- Women looking to get in touch with a more spiritual side of themselves
- Anyone interested in personal growth and development (that doesn’t just preach productivity)
- Business owners, career-focused individuals looking for more balance and intention in their work
6.) Him and Her Podcast
The Skinny Confidential is pretty much a legend in blogger world. I’d heard of her blog before I started listening to the podcast. To be honest, it wasn’t something I really paid much attention to. However, after listening to a few episodes of her show that she hosts with her husband, a fellow entrepreneur, I was hooked. They’re hilarious, uncensored, genuine and totally captivating.
Show Format:
- Intro banter, listener Q+A, tips and the occasional interview episode
This Podcast is Perfect for:
- Bloggers, especially in fashion, beauty or health
- Anyone with an interest in business or branding
- People looking for a good laugh
Other Podcasts I Love:
- The Entreleadership Podcast
- GaryVee’s Audio Experience
- The Balanced Blonde Soul on Fire
- Reply All
- Crimetown
- StartUp Podcast
