Weekend Competition: All The Fun Of The Fair

It’s Friday and time for a weekend competition. The featured piano resource today is a new piano suite by British composer Lindsey Berwin, published by EVC Music. Lindsey recently wrote a blog post for my guest writer series which outlined her journey as a composer and highlighted each piece in this new publication, All The Fun Of The Fair. You can read the post here.

The book contains ten pieces which are intended for intermediate to advanced players (approximately Grade 5 – 7 level of the ABRSM exam system). They encapsulate the fairground in all its guises (with titles such as The Rollercoaster, The Coconut Shy and The Carousel) and are written in a Contemporary style, with unusual rhythmic patterns and interesting harmonic progressions. They would be suitable for students who desire a challenge and who enjoy a more dissonant, yet still melodic, style.

I have one book to give away, so please leave your comments in the comment box below, and I will announce the lucky winner on Monday evening (British time). Good luck!

If you would like to purchase this book, you can do so here.

My Publications:

For much more information about how to practice piano repertoire, take a look at my two-book piano course, Play it again: PIANO (Schott). Covering a huge array of styles and genres, 49 progressive pieces from approximately Grade 1 – 8 level are featured, with at least two pages of practice tips for every piece. A convenient and beneficial course for students of any age, with or without a teacher, and it can also be used alongside piano examination syllabuses too.

You can find out more about my other piano publications and compositions here.
